Singaporean or not?

It's a late realisation but I think that I now know why I am not really considered as Singaporean to the others. I'm a true blue Singaporean, and although I look fair and speak correct English with a British accent, I still am 1.

In my entire 4 years in BSS, I kept wondering why people mistake me for a foreigner. One even ask me, once, if I'm an Indonesian! Another point blank asked if I'm a westerner. And lots of other cases... But seriously, I have gained enlightenment now.

Firstly, I don't behave in the unruly, couth way that most Sinagporean youngsters have. You know, the Ah Lians and Ah Beng imitations of Asian gangster that swaggers, digs their nose (ew!), have a shaved head, smokes and whatnot. Not that I'm looking down on them, by the way.

Secondly, I lack the kiasu attitude. For this, it's really not my fault. I've witnessed, first-hand, this syndrome called Kiasu. So I don't really like that attitude...you can't blame me for that, can you?

To end off, I'm here to tell you that I'm really a pure blooded Singaporean so please! Don't ask me questions like, "Are you a foreigner?" or "Are you not from Singapore?" I would appreciate that.
